Director – Tax Consulting

Role Overview

The Director will help lead consulting and advisory teams to deliver various real estate products and services for company clients. This Director position is a client-facing and leadership position. The expectation is that the Director will help his/her direct reports to develop professionally and technically within the company. The Director is expected to carry him/herself in a manner that reflects the Company in a positive light and exudes a high level of competitive differentiation amongst industry peers across all services, technical acumen, innovation, and results on behalf of our clients. The Director is expected to participate in leadership planning to develop both strategy and tactics that support Company growth in all areas.

This role does not require the employee to be in a particular office. This role can be accomplished remotely and the employee will be able to work from home or another remote location for a majority of the time. There will be times when the employee will be asked and expected to participate in in-person meetings with other company employees or the executive leadership team. This role may also require the employee to periodically visit certain physical locations from time to time as well as meet frequently with other employees for the purposes of completing projects and assignments.

Job Description:

  • Provide a full range of property assessment and tax consulting services to new and existing clients with very limited review.
  • Attend Hearings at various levels including Assessor, Board, and Court; as needed, give expert evidence as required.
  • Develop real estate valuations using the three primary approaches to valuation: income capitalization, cost, and sales comparison.
  • Organize and prepare various analyses, as well as client-specific reports.
  • Work within the consulting team to develop tax appeal strategies and evidence submissions as well as preparing hearing evidence.
  • Continuously upgrade knowledge regarding market and industry trends, property assessment and taxation practices and procedures, and legislation.
  • Actively pursue new assignments and marketing leads and ensure all direct reports are actively seeking new assignments and marketing opportunities are pursued.
  • Collaborate with leadership team to develop new products, services, and market strategy for the company.
  • Ensure employee development and continuous improvement efforts. Encourage employee satisfaction and retention of key talent. Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and motivation to the team which facilitates business growth and service expansion. Communicate business direction to the team and ensure alignment of individual goals with business goals. Ensure equitable distribution of work and effective utilization of key talent.
  • Periodically collaborate with the software, marketing, and leadership team(s) at our sister company, Taxonics, to develop strategy for product enhancement and market growth.

Job Responsibilities:

  • High School or GED diploma required. College degree preferred but willing to consider applicable experience in lieu.

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills: including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Proficiency with Adobe Pro.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn additional software programs as needed to research, develop, and produce real estate valuations and analytics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail, positive attitude, and timeliness are a must
  • Must be able to work autonomously within a collaborative and supportive team
  • Ability to respond to changes in workflow and shifting priorities

Our Commitment:

  • Base Salary: $#,000 per year
  • Business Origination Commission: 10% of net revenue generated from any new client and work you originate for the company (this is not a job requirement, but it is a valued skill)
  • Year-end bonus: 10% – 15% of base salary. Bonus range is dependent upon the company’s performance and revenue goals achieved.
  • Total Estimated Year 1 Compensation: (base + bonus): $#,000 – $#,000
